message- sticks

Blog 4

Message – sticks, often called black fellow letters or talking- sticks have been used by the aboriginals of Australia. These sticks are used to announce messages or stories within the tribes. A young man will deliver these sticks to whomever the stick is meant for. Each stick is decorated differently for different messages, most message- sticks are used for greetings or friendly messages.

The world has progressed in ways we can convey our messages and communicate with people. Before we used to use message- sticks and message birds whom would help us communicate with others, but humans have evolved and found different ways to communicate.  Now days we basically rely on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and twitter. The up side to using social media is that we can communicate with people across the globe and our views can be seen anywhere. However some of those messages can be things that aren’t very useful in today’s society. Instagram has created hashtags which can make your picture gain likes, you gain followers and it can become very popular. Hashtags are great for getting positive messages out there but however some just use random hashtags that are trending to gain more likes on that particular photo.  Social networking is great to get messages across and communicate with friends in different places. However it is a lot hard to get messages out there when you have a lower social standing than others. And those who do have a higher standing sometimes don’t use it as well as they should which makes social networking look like a bad thing but however there is that handful of people with high social standing that use it to send messages to the world and that make a big different in society.
